4-Door Locker

2.2 MATERIALS

A.     Dimensions: As indicated on the followings.

B.     Configuration: double tier.

C.      Locking: Equipped for built-in combination locks.

D.     Material: Prime, high grade Class I, mild annealed, cold-rolled steel free from surface imperfections. Bolts shall be zinc-plated or subjected to other rust retardant treatment.

E.      Body: 0.6 mm steel with baked enamel finish flanged to give double thickness of metal at back vertical corners. Exposed End Panels: Flat end cap panels at exposed ends.

F.     Door Frame: 1.5 mm formed steel channels.

G.     Door: 1 piece welded door panel consisting of not less than 1.5 mm outside panel and 0.6 mm inside panel with steel stiffened core or 25 mm honeycomb core bonded to door panel.

H.      Hinge: Full length 1.2 mm continuous piano hinge welded to frame and secured to door at not less than 150 mm on center.

I.       Locking Device: 1 point latching, and dead bolt built-in combination lock with master key override.     

J.      Locking Device: Channel-shaped locking device shall be enclosed on 3 sides by, and operate within, channel formation of door. Locking device shall be pre-locking so mechanism can be locked in open position; door locks automatically when closed. Provide lock hole filler to permit use of built-in key or combination lock.

K.      Handles: Chrome plated, die cast zinc alloy with a tensile strength of not less than 275 N/mm². No moving parts shall operate against outside surface of locker. Provisions for padlock attachment shall be integral part of locker door handles. Padlocks by Contractor.

L.      Coat Hooks: 3 single prong wall hooks and 1 double prong ceiling hook to each locker.

M.     Number Plates: Aluminum number plates with figures at least 10 mm high, embossed or etched. Attach number plates at top of locker doors. Coordinate numbering and locations within room with Employer

N.      Finish: Steel parts shall be thoroughly cleaned, given a bonding and rust inhibitive phosphate treatment, and then electro-statically sprayed with a heavy coat of high quality enamel. Enamel shall be baked at 149 °C and shall withstand a rigid hammer test without chipping or flaking. Color: As selected by Employer’s Representative from manufacturer’s standard range.

O.     Bases: Continuous, 100 mm high, 2.6 mm steel, "Z" type.

P. Ventilation Method: Mesh infill panel to door.

Q. Form recess for operating handle and locking device.

R. Finish edges smooth without burrs.

2.3 FINISHES

A. Clean, degrease, and neutralize metal; prime and finish with two coats of baked enamel.

B. Finish locker units of one color throughout.

C. Color: As selected from manufacturer's standard range.

PART 3: EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Comply with Section 01 40 00.

B. Verify that prepared bases are in correct position and configuration.

C. Verify that bases are properly sized.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Install lockers plumb and square.

C. Place and secure on prepared base.

D. Secure lockers with anchor devices to suit substrate materials. Minimum Pullout Force: 445N.

E. Bolt adjoining locker units together to provide rigid installation.

F. Install filler panels and bases.

G. Install accessories.

H. Replace components that do not operate smoothly.

3.3 CLEANING

A. Comply with Section 01 77 00.

B. Clean locker interiors and exterior surfaces.
